“ I only get their rib special here. And I will say that in terms of ribs they are some of the best I've had in the Chicago suburbs. I have not tried anything else. Their sauce is incredible and the meat from the ribs it falls off the bone. I love their fries paired with the extra sauce. Overall a great service experience the owner is nice. And I love the western decor and there's always plenty of seating. I will say it's top quality for the price. One of my favorite BBQ places. ”

“ Finally got around to trying this place. I didn't realize what I was missing! Counter ordering kind of place. Placed an order for two brisket sandwiches and a small order of fries. About five minutes later, our order was ready. Two huge sandwiches and a very large 'small' order of fries were sitting in front of us. Crazy big portions! The brisket was the best we've ever had. Tender, smoky, lean. Topped with a delicious barbecue sauce. Messier than messy...a true sign of a great sandwich! Fries were yummy...thin and hot. Dinner was around $30 for the two of us. Considering the portion sizes, we have no complaints. Next time, we will split one sandwich...it was huge. Heads up...it is loud in this place. We could barely hear our order being announced, and having a conversation was a challenge. Great place, great food. ”

“ Stopped in with my wife for lunch when we were in the area as we've never been here before. First thing we noticed was that it smelled great in the parking lot outside the restaurant. I had the brisket sandwich with fries and my wife had a small portion of the baby back ribs. This is not BBQ is the traditional sense, but they're definitely cooking over an open flame. Ribs were nice and tender with good flavor with that hint of open flame char. Brisket, while good, was a little bit dry. Neither one of us was over the moon about the sauce, but it was good. I'm not always a huge fan of the crinkle cut (maybe extruded) fry but these were really good and crispy. Another patron had an order of what must have been beef ribs and they looked fantastic. Kind of wish that's what I had ordered. Nevertheless, we recommend this place and will be back when in the area. ”

“ When it comes to BBQ in the far west of the Fox Valley the pickings are pretty slim so it's been a real comfort to find a place like Gemato's where I can go even though it's a bit of a hike when I get a hankering for some slabs of smoked ribs, tips, jumbo shrimp or even a gyro. Their menu also seems to be the best value for the prices when compared to any other bbq places. Ordered a half slab with a baked potato and cole slaw and that was all cooked well and tasted good. I love their tangy bbq sauce and the way it pairs well with the flavor of their smoked meats. I also ordered a half bbq chicken and it was a little dry but still pretty good still with the sauce. I might order an extra side of sauce if I were to get chicken again just in case. The restaurant has a local fast casual style so I usually just order takeout but the staff is friendly and the interior is always clean so I probably wouldn't mind enjoying my food inside either. I'm fairly certain that if you call directly in when you place your order you can save a little bit on takeout fees so keep that in mind. ”
